About Chel
What others have to say:
“Michelle, or Chel, is one of the bulletproof, rock-solid people you can depend upon to get things done.” – Christopher S. Penn
“Her productivity assistance is invaluable for someone like myself, running multiple businesses and projects, and she is excellent at making sure my foundation is rock solid before I embark on any new venture.” – Leslie Poston
“But perhaps more importantly, as I started to realize how incredibly competent she was, I found myself looking for things I could hand off to her. Now, I’m addicted. I absolutely can’t imagine not having Chel to magically make my tech and admin problems disappear.” – Helena Bouchez
“Michelle is a GEM! She was completely professional, went above and beyond the call of duty, and provided us with support that we needed on a very complex project. I was constantly impressed with her work and felt very reassured knowing that she was on the job.” – Scott Monty
The quick and dirty version
Michelle (“Chel”) Wolverton is a puzzle solver and the director/business manager/human bulletin board for Awaken Your Marketing. She helps businesses find the missing pieces of the puzzle whether that’s related to competitive intelligence, social research, marketing strategies, or WordPress development/design.
She also consults on the side in the areas of personal productivity, business management/development and marketing including SEO and social media. You will find her skills do not fit in a traditional marketing or business management toolbox.
She’s also a huge productivity nerd and loves helping people fine tune their workflow in order to work harder/faster so there’s more time for play.
In 2009, she became the lead organizer for Podcamp Boston, organizing the conference at the behest of both Chris Brogan and Christopher S. Penn. Podcamp Boston has continued under her guidance, with Podcamp Boston 6 being planned for September 24-25th, 2011 at the MS NERD Center in Cambridge, MA.
Her other projects include working with and supporting independent musicians such as Matthew Ebel, Black Lab, and Dryer, among others. She practices martial arts in Boston studying the teachings of Stephen K. Hayes, loves boxing, and plays a mage and paladin in World of Warcraft for fun.
Future past or the path to pixies (in first person)
Answering typically to “Chel”, I grew up in a very small town in the south that no one knows. As a child, I would read anything that had words on it and wasn’t moving. Or so my mom liked to insist. I played a lot of Atari and Nintendo in my spare time. Then I heard about this shiny new thing call the internet and begged to have it “turned on”. (GEEK!)
After getting connected, I went on to join communities like Memespace (created by Chris Abraham) and Brainstorms (created by Howard Rheingold). After some intense life lessons and a lot of changes, I discovered a crazy online world called Second Life. Choosing the name Chel Pixie, it stuck as a nickname and a brand. Chelpixie.com still hosts my blog and @chelpixie is where you can find me on Twitter.
Mid 2007, I realized I wasn’t content with the empty beauty of the pitch black sky in my small town and I moved to Boston. I quickly fell in love with the city and have since enjoyed the quirkiness of the T as well as the sparkly skyline at night.
What else I’m passionate about:
