blogstring

Two bloggers set out to write about new sites that make their appearance on the web. Nathan Burke started a blog that reviewed beta web applications, social media and more. He brought Sarah Wurrey onto the blog to mix it up. It jokingly (or not) says on their about page that she brought a new prespective to blogstring making it less random. Both of their writing styles keep me entertained while including some great insight into what’s going on around the web and social media. For example, Sarah recently wrote a post on resolutions and this little gem turned me onto blogstring.com: Considering I get home from work and almost immediately sit down with my[.....]

America’s Giving Challenge

Beth Kanter and I were exchanging emails the other evening and she mentioned America’s Giving Challenge which is sponsored by Parade. The challenge is to see which project can get the most donations by January 31, 2008. That project will gain a $50,000 donation. Michele Martin is raising this money for The Sharing Foundation to bring literacy to children in Cambodia to provide them with a way to leave poverty behind. I’ve added the widget to chelpixie.com’s sidebar that links to the donate page. Please consider donating, even a small amount.  Every little bit will go a long way to helping Michele raise money, win the challenge and to help children in need.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

I spent the last few hours of 2007 writing down what I wanted to accomplish this year. With Chris Penn‘s words ringing in my ears about goals and wishes, I created a few that matter to me. Probably more than I should have, but then I am afraid to leave something out. I’ll post on my goals a bit later as I want to let them set internally first. I want to look back on 2007 quickly and say that the year was both difficult and amazing. It had challenges and rewards. That’s a great thing because I’ve learned a lot about myself and about life. I’ve recounted many times how I met Chris Penn[.....]

[RL] 100 comments

Chris Brogan wrote a blog post asking to start a community driven conversation in his blog comments.  When those useful comments reach 100, then there will be a new topic. The first question is Why does some video content grab viewers by the throat, compel them to watch and then suck their mouse towards the bookmark/email/blog about link? How do we get us some of that mojo for our productions? Mine ended in my own question: However, there is no one answer, each person is grabbed by something different. So, who do you want to attract? Go over to his blog at http://grasshopperfactory.com and be a part of the conversation.

[RL] there is a way to influence the world, what’s yours?

Between Christopher Penn and Chris Brogan it’s a wonder I don’t have a headache. Christopher posted about a month ago about Second Life, Superheroes and the greater good. Last week, Chris Brogan posted about being the grasshopper. I’ve been a little busy with a little something so I’ve just now gotten the chance to comment on some of this stuff. I wanted to share my response to Penn’s post re: superheroes. I think it’s important to realize that we all hold a very special key to something that can change the world. “We’re only as good as the powers we put to use in our lives to reach out and touch the world and make[.....]
